Hi Everybody, hey it is NYE and we are visiting the family in Austin, Texas. We left on the day after Christmas--we were going to go on Christmas Day but there was a really big snowstorm right on our path in Oklahoma and Texas, as well as some snow in Missouri so we put off leaving for a day, and boy, are we glad we did. The roads were hardly cleared, and it was very scary for everybody. But Daddy is a really good driver so we made it safely, whew, we were worried. In fact, Skye threw up from all the bumps and ruts in the road, but I took care of her and she got better.
Yeah, I did but it wasn't really that much fun driving this time. We have had a great time since we got here though, playing with Maxie and Reece and all the babies. It has been good and we have been told by Mommy and Daddy that we have been really good dogs, so we are glad of that.
We go home tomorrow, and we hear it is really cold in Missouri--it was 73 in Texas today, really nice weather to run around in the fenced back-yard at Ellie's.
So, this is our last blog in 2009 but watch for us next year. We will continue to tell you about our fun life as Roper D O G s, and all the good adventures we are presently having. Ok, see ya, Happy New Year, don't drink too much champagne, we won't, promise. Love, Rose and Skye Roper

Rose as a baby
A-hem, yes it is about time, Skye you are hogging the blog, ~~blog-hogger~~. Anyway, here are some pictures of me when I was a baby....with my really good friend and cousin, Allison and one later with Mommy and Skye. I was pretty cute, huh? And by the way, Mom and Daddy make up songs about us--one goes like this: "Ros e rita, Ros e rita Beach, she is such a peach, sometimes Daddy calls her a hog, but she's not, she's just a dog" Pretty cute, huh. Ok, that's all for now, we'll be back. Love, Skye and Rose Roper
So anyway...
As I was saying, this is still Skye Roper. Jonesy and I were taken to a shelter, and we were very sad, and scared. But, and this is the great thing, Mommie was cruising PetFinders and came across this picture of me. http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10573832
And then she sent it via email to Daddy with the caption--"are you my Daddy", and she listened when he opened it and heard him say, "OHHHHHH", and she knew that this might be a great thing for all of us. So, so, so (I am getting excited) we called the place, filled out an application, and great news, we got selected to adopt Phoebe Pembroke. And, as it happened, good luck, Dad and Mom were traveling to the area where I was that next week!
The best way to show you what happened next would be in the photo study Mommy created. Here it is: ok, we are sorry that the pictures are at the top of the blog, Mommie (who is actually writing this, doesn't know how to do it very well yet, but she will learn).

Introducing the great Corgis "Rose and Skye!!
Well, first of all, we are not real sisters--we live in the same family, but were born to different mothers. This blog will be in both of our voices, so sometimes
Skye will talk and other times it will be me, Rose.
First my story when I became a Roper. My mom and dad were traveling in western Missouri on a business trip, and had to stop for some gas. We stopped at a local place, daddy pumped the gas and when he came back to the car he said, "the lady that owns this gas station has a whole litter of Corgi pups and the mother and father as well, and they are all in that red truck, he said pointing. Well, mom said oh my goodness we have to go at least look at them. So they did, and as Mom was approaching the truck she called out to the lady, "are any of them still for sale, and how much? She said, we have just two left a boy and a girl, and we are asking $100.00.
We said we wanted a female, and instantly I was in mommie's arms! She didn't relinquish me until we got home to our house. The doggie mother (the real person) gave us a baby blanket that she had in the basket with all the other babies, so that I could not be scared going to a new home, as I could smell my Mom and my brothers and sisters, and probably even my Daddy.
We drove home and I just snuggled and snuggled in my Mom's lap and she was so nice, and smelled so good. By the way it was May 30th, 2007, and I was just 7 weeks old. I went from my real doggie mom to the Roper family, so I never really have known any other owners. But, things were different, quite different for Skye.
Hi, hi, hi, I am Skye Roper. I am two years old on December 21,2009 so right now Rose and I are the same aqe! Ha, that is funny. Here's my story:
I was born....well we don't actually know where, but it was around December 21, so Mom and Dad picked that as my official birthday. I have at least one brother, his name is Jones, and oh, by the way, with my first owners, I was named Phoebe, and sometimes Rose teases me about it, "Phoebe, PHOEBE',and I say, well how about you, SweetPea? That was Rose's litter name, but she doesn't like it. Mommie and Daddy thought about our names for a long time, it was kind of hard to figure it out. They first named Rose Rosie, but have all sorts of funny nicknames for both of us--like Rosarita Beach, and Skye Blue, Skye Bird, Skye-Skye. Skye Frederick Roper, noooo, that's not true, I was just kidding you--hee, hee.
So anyway, Jones and I got adopted out of our litter to a family with two little children, however, we tended to herd those babies, and the parents decided we were too rough. So, sadly, we were sent to a shelter and my picture was posted on PetFinders.com. Ok, gotta go have Christmas eve dinner so I will continue this later. See ya, Skye Roper
